Who can benefit from sports and remedial massage?

Everyone can benefit from sports and remedial massage.
It will help reduce aches and pains whether caused by sport, injury or simply the strains of modern life.

The most advanced and beneficial form of massage helps to:

  • Relieve tension, which in turn reduces pain and improves performance
  • Improve body awareness
  • Helps to prevent or reduce the risk of injury
  • Speed up recovery time post exercise or following injury
  • Promotes feelings of wellbeing and reduces feelings of stress

Ideally an initial consultation and treatment is required of 50 minutes. If your problem is fairly localised you may only need a 30 minutes session. The number of sessions required really depends on each situation as in some cases symptoms resolve with just one treatment. For chronic conditions it is often beneficial to have a few treatments within the first month or two. Many clients have massage every 4-8 weeks after an initial problem has been resolved to keep them feeling good and injury free, especially if they have postural issues as a result of their occupation.

Sports and Remedial Massage is provided by Joanne Chatfield LSSM (Dip) MISRM. Joanne has 7 years experience in resolving short term and chronic soft tissue problems within most sports at both professional and recreational levels. Joanne has extensive experience in working with postural/occupational issues as well as with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis. She is also a tutor at the London School of Massage.
