Conditions like chronic bronchitis are caused by swelling of
the bronchial wall and the production of mucous that cannot be cleared.
The impact of this condition causes undue breathlessness, particularly
following exertion, due to obstruction caused by the mucous to the
airflow in the air passages.
Treatment plans
consist of postural drainage, clapping, shaking and deep breathing,
to help speed up expectoration of phlegm or mucous, thus restoring
clear airways and full chest expansion, leading to a speedier recovery.

Patients with Asthma suffer with a narrowing of the airways,
making them feel short of breath, developing a cough or wheeze.
Asthma often manifests itself during exercise, following a cold,
or by keeping you awake at night.
With asthmatic
conditions you will have some degree of internal swelling, redness
and secretions, as well as the constricted airways that patients
are too well aware of.
Physiotherapy
can help provide specific breathing exercises and advice to lessen
the impact of the condition. |
